Thank you to JJ Watt and the Houston Texans! Preslee Style!

Preslee's accident and recovery and have touched so many hearts. It is hard for me to describe how many amazing stories we have heard, gifts we have received and prayers have been sent up to the Heavens. The latest amazing gift was that from the Houston Texans and JJ Watt. The Team sent a large gift bag with all kinds of fun stuff, and JJ sent Preslee a pink mini sized football with his autograph! Through the grapevine, we were told that IF we sent JJ a photo of P and the football, that he MAY come see Preslee... (which Im okay with I guess haha). So I asked Preslee what she thought about a photoshoot in Mommys studio... She decided she wanted to wear one of her new dresses from school, some lipgloss (of course) and make JJ a few signs and a personal drawing from her. I started photographing her while she drew..and when she was done we snapped some photos. JJ was given a packet of photos and information about Preslee... and she looked through it last night.... They were all photos of her in the hospital and a few of the updates I had written on the P4P page. At the end of the session, P asked if she could show JJ how she can stand up now (on one leg)... So she did.  Hope you like the photos...and do me a favor.... share this and send it on... hopefully we can reach JJ and the Team again - just so they can see the huge smile they put on her face! GO TEXANS..P4P!!!!

Love, Lara

  1. I know there is no right way to say this and it will come off sounding like total a$$holeness but---you shut down the facebook page and then you can only post once or twice every 2 weeks about gifts you receive? I thought you realized how many people are invested in Preslee's recovery and how hard so many people prayed and prayed for her, and then to be just shut out--it's hurtful. I'm not the only one thinking this, others have emailed about it. Of course you are busy & going through a hard time but people donated thousands of dollars and spent many nights with prayers in their hearts and tears in their eyes. Now--nothing. :( :( :(

  2. As hard as it may be for the P4P followers to see the Facebook page go, weekly updates (vs. daily or hourly) is actually a *good* thing; it means Preslee is not just recovering but thriving, and well on her way to being a typical 6 year old again. What a blessing! I remember when we all prayed together to help her hold on for one more hour, or day, or week.
I do not know the family personally so I hesitate to make assumptions about any donations made, but I do know from personal experience that watching a child suffer through a life-threatening illness or injury is emotionally draining, and to add the financial stress of expensive medical bills can make it almost unbearable. It is very likely that P4P donations allowed Preslee’s mom to be by her side far from home within hours, or provided a necessary surgery, or allowed her to return to us in Texas via ambulance. We were a part of all of that. We may never know what lifesaving medical procedures our donations covered, but I do believe we have the honor of knowing the little girl they helped save.
Anyone who works in communications will agree that social media pages-- while wonderful--can be extremely time consuming. If blogging vs. Facebook helps by giving the family time to take Preslee to PT or adds valuable time adjusting to her ‘new normal’, then I think it is probably best for Preslee.
